“Where’s The Cap’n?” – Osaka Popstar pays tribute with new video and song.

One of this year’s most enjoyable projects was designing the landing page and promotional materials for the new video and song “Where’s the Cap’n?” by  Osaka Popstar. The video features rare footage from vintage Cap’n Crunch TV commercials from the 60′s and 70′s that should delight all who grew up seeing them air on Saturday mornings, their own bowl of crunchy goodness in hand. It was great fun incorporating classic Cap’n Crunch and Osaka Popstar imagery into something new.

The song is available as a free download, watch the video and get more details here: http://osakapopstar.com/crunch

I hope you enjoy watching and listening to it as much as we did working on the webpage!

New chapter begins for Persephone’s Bees

As the band embarks on a US Tour this September, relocating to New York City and prepares to release their new single and video for the song “Ugly Thing”, we took the opportunity to revamp the band’s website. Today we relaunched http://persephonesbees.com making the site more web 2.0 friendly and lay the groundwork for further updating. In conjunction, we also relaunched Persephone’s Bees’ MySpace page with the new 2.0 profile they offer.

Stay tuned, there’s much more coming soon.

OFFICIAL JOHNNY RAMONE SITE LAUNCHES – TRIBUTE EVENT ANNOUNCED FOR 2010

Johnny Ramone invented the relentless; down stroke guitar sound that defined not only the groundbreaking sound of the legendary Ramones, but the guitar voice of the punk rock movement in general. Listed in Time Magazine’s “10 greatest electric guitar players” and named #16 in Rolling Stone Magazine’s top 100 guitarists of all-time.

Johnny was the driving force behind the Ramones sometimes referred to as a drill sergeant, bringing order and regiment to the band. This is evident in the speed, accuracy and intensity of their music. Johnny kept the Ramones focused and moving forward, ultimately securing their place in rock history. The Ramones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 18, 2002.

AtomicPopMonkey is extremely honored and thrilled to announce the launch of the brand new Official Johnny Ramone web-site, which was designed and developed by working closely with JRA Chief of Staff, John Cafiero. The new site features illustrations by Shepard Fairey and Sam Fout.

I also designed the postcard / flier for The 6th Annual Johnny Ramone Tribute. This year’s event takes place Sunday July 25, 2010 at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles where Johnny’s memorial statue and Dee Dee’s resting place are. Special guests include Kirk Hammett from Metallica, Surviving founding member and Ramones drummer, Tommy Ramone, and “Rock ‘N’ Roll High School” actresses PJ Soles (Riff Randell) and Dey Young (Kate Rambeau).

Featured this year is a double feature of Roger Corman’s classic “Rock ‘N’ Roll High School” and Johnny’s all time favorite horror movie, James Whale’s 1935 classic “The Bride of Frankenstein”. Net proceeds from the tribute go to aid funding of cancer research.

Romero. The artwork is appropriately suited as both new songs (“Land of the Dead” and “Twilight of the Dead” written by Misfits founding member Jerry Only), were inspired by the acclaimed director’s living dead series. Click here for a close up view of the artwork. Jon Krop at Atomic Pop Monkey did the graphic design and layout for the jacket and LP label.
