Johnny Ramone invented the relentless; down stroke guitar sound that defined not only the groundbreaking sound of the legendary Ramones, but the guitar voice of the punk rock movement in general. Listed in Time Magazine’s “10 greatest electric guitar players” and named #16 in Rolling Stone Magazine’s top 100 guitarists of all-time.
Johnny was the driving force behind the Ramones sometimes referred to as a drill sergeant, bringing order and regiment to the band. This is evident in the speed, accuracy and intensity of their music. Johnny kept the Ramones focused and moving forward, ultimately securing their place in rock history. The Ramones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 18, 2002.
AtomicPopMonkey is extremely honored and thrilled to announce the launch of the brand new Official Johnny Ramone web-site, which was designed and developed by working closely with JRA Chief of Staff, John Cafiero. The new site features illustrations by Shepard Fairey and Sam Fout.

I also designed the postcard / flier for The 6th Annual Johnny Ramone Tribute. This year’s event takes place Sunday July 25, 2010 at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles where Johnny’s memorial statue and Dee Dee’s resting place are. Special guests include Kirk Hammett from Metallica, Surviving founding member and Ramones drummer, Tommy Ramone, and “Rock ‘N’ Roll High School” actresses PJ Soles (Riff Randell) and Dey Young (Kate Rambeau).
Featured this year is a double feature of Roger Corman’s classic “Rock ‘N’ Roll High School” and Johnny’s all time favorite horror movie, James Whale’s 1935 classic “The Bride of Frankenstein”. Net proceeds from the tribute go to aid funding of cancer research.
